Types of bikes.

What types of bikes exist.

To begin with, I suggest watching a fun video about what the first bikes were like.

More recently, there were only two or three main types of bicycles (city bike, sports bike, mountain bike). Currently, you can easily count more than a dozen of them, and almost every species will have its subspecies:

mountain bicycles;

city bikes;

touring bicycles;

road bikes;

comfort bike.

I will focus on some types of bicycles that I think are most suitable for Cycling trips and walks.

City bikes

City bikes are often used in the world for everyday riding in normal clothing in different weather conditions.

Manufacturers of these bikes focus more on comfort and practicality instead of speed or efficiency. City bikes are heavier than road bikes and have a smaller speed range. The saddle is usually larger than other bikes, and most of them are equipped with chain protection against oil or dirt.

Wheel size as a mountain bike(26-inch), more upright seating position and wide handlebar and 1,5 – 1,95 inch heavy tires designed to avoid some road hazards commonly found in the city, such as small pieces of glass.

Mountain bicycles

Mountain bicycles are designed for off-road travel, including jumping and crossing rocks. All mountain bikes have a large number of speeds to control the effort during ascent and descent, equipped with very strong components (frame, brakes, wheels, tires) to resist sudden shocks, wheel hits in the pit, hitting the sharp edges of stones.

The wheels are usually 26 inches in size, there are shock absorbers for the front and rear wheels, and good mountain bikes use disc brakes to ensure maximum speed control, especially during the descent.

A black mountain bike is probably the most practical color solution.

Comfort bike

The comfort bike is similar to both mountain and racing bikes. However, they have larger wheels and a more comfortable seat in the saddle for driving on flat terrain. They also include other advantages of racing bikes: its lower weight, aerodynamic efficiency compared to a mountain bike. These bikes are a combination of comfort and speed. The handlebars are positioned lower than the saddle in order to place the rider in a more aerodynamic position. The wheels are close to each other, so the Bicycle has quick handling. The presence of several allows you to pedal at the optimal frequency depending on the terrain you are crossing.

Touring bicycles

Touring bicycles are designed for Cycling and long trips. They have several similarities to the traditional design of road bikes, which make them ideal for long-distance bike tours. They are designed with strong frames that can withstand heavy loads both in front and behind. There are also many places to attach certain things, such as a basket, water bottles, pumps, flashlights, and so on.

Most touring bicycles are made with an increased distance between the wheel hubs, unlike other road bikes. They have a reduced center of gravity, which makes it easier to control. Many representatives of this class have disc brakes to strengthen the brakes when transporting heavy loads on unpaved surfaces.

The French car manufacturer Peugeot also has an electric touring bicycle. At one of the Paris motor shows, the company presented several models of electric bicycles. Surprisingly, the bikes are very quiet, since they have a belt drive instead of an iron chain.

Road bikes

A road bike is any bike that is used simply as transport, regardless of style. These models usually have practical amenities such as headlights, rear racks, bag stands, locks, and fenders. These accessories make the bike unitary.

It is very difficult to imagine what torment a cycling trip on the first bicycles would have turned out if someone had decided on this. At that time, even an ordinary bike ride was not an easy task. But we, unlike our ancestors, were very lucky: today, cycling is not something supernatural, and many people use bicycles every day, which greatly simplifies their lives. The main thing is to choose the right bike from the wide variety of models that are offered to us now.
